I admit it took me a long time to discover carnation fragrances. It wasn't until I smelled perfumes created as a tribute to the woefully ordinary carnation flower that I realized carnations do have a lovely spicy scent and they are pretty little things. Honestly, before my carnation perfume discoveries I thought the only use for carnations were to adorn the prom attire of high school girls and boys. Worse still, these sad little carnations are dyed bizarre colors to match the wearers prom tuxedos and dresses. Eventually, after ignoring anything with carnation in the list of notes for too many years, I tried one. To my utter surprise and delight it was simply gorgeous.
