Here is a review written by Bois de Jasmin:
My favourite Guerlain, from 1906, was created by Jacques
Guerlain. I loved this scent upon the first whiff for its wonderfully
delicate combination of orange blossom and violet tinged with a spicy anise
note. Upon the first accord, one is transported to the spring garden after a
tempestuous May shower as the damp earth, drenched leaves and flowers are
beginning to warm up under the sun. The aura of this fragrance is effervescent,
innocent and joyous with a slight dark accord--similar to the moment after the
rain is over, the sun is shining, yet the dark clouds are still casting somber
shadows upon the landscape. The heart blossoms with spicy carnation and deep
violet which much to my delight is a departure from the traditionally sweet
violet notes. Carnation is rather subdued and merely adds a spicy ornament. The
dry down is gorgeous with the rich iris note slightly touched by vanilla. Après
l'Ondée is a garden in the first flush of bloom, yet to reveal all of its
secrets.
