According to Guerlain, Jicky was named after the nickname Aimé Guerlain gave to his nephew,
Jacques. An aside, Jacques (Jicky)
Guerlain is the boy who grew up to create Mitsouko.
Created in 1889, Jicky proved to be a great success in its time of creation,
and remained popular ever since. Widely heralded as the first
"modern" perfume, Jicky was among the first perfumes to
incorporate synthetics in its composition, and is described by some as
being the "ultimate" fougere. Although marketed by Guerlain as a women's fragrance, it has proven popular
with men. It’s been said that Jicky is a
favorite of Sean Connery.
Jicky’s notes: lavender, rosemary, bergamot, rose, fern harmony (aromatic
notes, earthy forest note, and pelargonium), tonka bean, woody notes, vanilla,
and opoponax
